Fields Family Session
The day after photographing Natalie & Tim’s beautiful wedding, I had the opportunity to photograph Natalie’s mother’s whole side of the family. In Memoriam ~Dawson Kellogg, Glass Artist.
The glass art world lost a great man on October 6th. Dawson Kellogg was the head of the CCAD glass department and a talented glassblowing artist. He was a great teacher, mentor, and friend to many. Although I didn't have him specifically as a teacher, he taught on several different occasions (and also saw me fail several times while learning to blow glass). I remember being so embarrassed the first time I ever polished a piece in the cold shop, because Dawson happened to be working at the same time and watched me nearly ruin the piece I was working on. He laughed at me a bit, but then helped me save the piece. It was one of the first cups I ever made and I was so proud of it. Had he not been there I probably would have broken it and/or injured myself, so for that I am thankful.
I was given an opportunity to photograph him working on a piece back in February 2013. I forgot all about the images until the other day, and realized that I never got to work on them or include them in my series. I really wanted to post them so everyone can see his work in progress. This is a continuation of my artist series from one of my final project series while at CCAD. The point of the series is to see the artists at work creating their art, because the process is just as amazing and as beautiful as the final piece of art. Watching a glass piece be created is one of the most breathtaking experiences.
My deepest condolences to Dawson's family and friends. He is truly missed.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Kellogg.
Neer Family & Maternity! ~October 26, 2014
I got to revisit with a couple I met last year, whom I had the honor of photographing their wedding on May 31, 2014! They needed some family photos done, as Carol and Clayton are now expecting a baby boy in early 2015! Cannot wait to meet baby Wyatt!

Portraits, portraits, & More Portraits!
